BAM Weekend 2008 will take place Friday June 13th thru Sunday, June 15th. The BAM Tri will be held on Saturday June 14th...and new for this year, we will be adding a 3/4 Mile Kid's Fun Run on Friday, June 13th and an Off-Road Duathlon & Doggie "Doo"athlon on Sunday, June 15th. There is something for everybody, from kid's to off-road racers to even Fido, the family dog!

THE BAM TRISPORTS.COM 3-DAY EXPO
The BAM TriSports.com Expo will take place in conjunction with packet pickup on Friday, June 13th (2-9PM), on Saturday, June 14th (7AM-12PM) & again on Sunday, June 15th (7-11AM) at Soldier Hollow Legacy Park. Vendors from around the Country will be on hand to provide everything from a full line of apparel, nutritional products and merchandise to last minute bicycle repairs. Headlining the expo will be the anchor booth of TriSports.com, the nation's #1 triathlon online retailer. We will also be conducting prize-drawings all weekend long during the expo & races. PACKET PICKUP - SOLDIER HOLLOW
Packet pick up will take place at the finish area on Friday June 13th at Soldier Hollow Legacy Park (expo, finish & run venue). There will be no packet pick up on race mornings. Packet pick up will be from 2-9PM on Friday for both races, and again on Saturday (12-3PM) for Sunday's BAM-X athletes only.. A more detailed document on packet pickup procedures is available HERE! There will be NO PACKET PICKUP ON RACE MORNINGS FOR THE TRI OR DU!

BAM KID'S FUN RUN
The highlight of the expo on Friday will most certainly be the BAM 3/4 Mile Kid's Fun Run, which will start at 6PM. Our young BAM competitors will toe-the-line for a 3/4 mile jaunt around the Soldier Hollow stadium & expo area...finishing at the same line as triathletes and duathletes will later in the weekend. Each child will receive a cotton BAM Kid's Fun Run T-shirt and finishers award...along with drinks and refreshments at the finish line. Mom and Dad are welcome to run with their children. Registration is available online through active.com or on Friday, June 13th during the expo & packet pickup. Those athletes who register after June 1st, 2008 are not guaranteed a t-shirt or finisher's award.

FINISH FEST
The Finish Fest is just the start of each races post-race festivities! Athletes will be greeted to an all-you-can-eat buffet as they cross the finish line at Soldier Hollow, along with music, the expo, vendors, friends and family all helping to bring those final athletes in! The Finish Fest is free to all competitors and will be held at the finish line area, your athlete wrist band is your entrance. Additional food will be available for purchase for spectators from a variety of vendors.

AWARDS CEREMONIES
Join us immediately following the completion of each race for the BAM & BAM-X Awards Ceremonies, where all prize purses, overall awards, age-group awards & swag/prize drawings will take place. The BAM Tri's Professional & Elite Athlete awards ceremony will start at 11AM and run until 11:20AM. Swag give-aways and prize drawings will take place until the last finisher is across the line. The BAM Tri Age-Group awards will begin promptly at after everyone has finished, ~11:30AM. The BAM-X Off-Road Duathlon awards ceremony will take place Sunday around 10:30AM or after our last competitor has finished.

BAM TRIATHLON RACE INFO
TRIATHLON BIKE CHECK-IN - ISLAND BAY
Bike check in will take place at Transition 1 on Friday afternoon/evening from 2-10PM at Deer Creek Reservoir Island Bay. All bikes must be checked in during this time period. There will be NO BIKE CHECK-IN RACE MORNING. If you plan on doing a last minute bike check when checking your bike into T-1 Friday night, we suggest you do it near Soldier Hollow as Highway 189 near Island Bay is a very busy road. Security will be on hand all night Friday into Saturday to ensure the safety of your equipment.

You will be allowed back in transition 1 on race morning to set up any additional equipment, inflate tires, etc. Both transition areas will open at 4:30AM. Cyclesmith bike shop will be on hand race morning at T-1 with pumps to help you inflate your tires, this is so you don't have to bring a pump with you to T-1. All athletes and spectators will be shuttled to the race start on Saturday morning, no spectator vehicles will be allowed in or around the Island Bay area. Shuttles will begin running from the finish area (Soldier Hollow) at 4:30AM until 6:15AM. The first wave of athletes will start at 6:30AM and the buses will start running again at about 7AM and run until ~9AM. Again, NO SPECTATOR VEHICLES will be allowed on race morning at Island Bay.

TRIATHLON RACE START TIMES/SWIM START (WAVES)
The swim start will go off with waves being sent in 5 minute intervals. The first wave, Professional (white swim caps) & Elite (blue swim caps) Male & Females, will go off at 6:30 AM. The Age-Group waves (red swim caps) will then follow in 5 minute increments with ~150 athletes per wave being split up as follows:

    2 @ 6:35AM - Relay Teams, Athena, F24-70
    3 @ 6:40AM - M35-70, Clydesdales
    4 @ 6:45AM - M24-34
Wetsuits are required, as water temperature will be right around 56 degrees. Neoprene swim caps are legal, but you must wear your provided race swim cap over your neoprene cap.

BAM 2008 Trophies

TRIATHLON AMATEUR AGE-GROUP, CAF & ARMED FORCES RACE DIVISIONS
Overall trophies & swag prizes will be given 3 deep in the triathlon for overall male and female in the open divisions. Age-group awards will go to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 24 and under, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Clydesdales (men over 200lbs) and Athena's (women over 150 lbs.) will include top three finishers 39 and under, and top three finishers 40 and over. In the Challenged Athletes Division the 1st place overall M & F will be awarded trophies. Awards will go 3 deep in each relay category, with each member of the winning relay teams receiving an award.

Every registered athlete will also receive a BAM finishers award (we guarantee you'll LOVE IT)! All division & overall awards will be given out at the awards ceremony immediately following the race (Pro's & Elites @ 11AM, Age-Groupers @ 11:30AM). So come BATTLE it out for one of the best awards in the Nation!

    TRIATHLON RELAY TEAMS: Relay teams may consist of 2 or 3 members. There are All-Male, All-Female & Mixed Gender categories. Awards will go three deep in each relay category, with each member of the winning relay teams receiving an award. There are no Military or Challenged Athlete discounts for relays.

    TRIATHLON TEAM CHALLENGE: There will be a Team Challenge at this years BAM Triathlon. Teams must consist of 3 to 5 members. Awards will go to the top 3 teams overall. The Team Challenge is scored by adding the top 3 team members individual placing in their age-group category (ie Bobby placed 6th in his age-group, Billy placed 10th in his, and Barbara place 12th in hers - their total score would be 28 points). The 4th & 5th members (if the team has them) of the team would act as tie breakers (if neccessary). The lowest team score takes first place, second lowest 2nd place, and third lowest 3rd place overall. Each member of the top 3 teams will receive an award.

    TRIATHLON ARMED FORCES DIVISION: Included in the Open Amateur Age-Group Category will be the Armed Forces division, where any active or reserve U.S. Military personnel are eligible to register at a $10 discount; you will be required to show a valid and current Common Access Card (CAC) or Federal pay stub at packet pickup to verify your status. Each Military personnel will be eligible for the "Fastest Armed Forces Athlete" award, which will be presented at the awards ceremony to our fastest Military athlete (male & female) of the day.

    TRIATHLON CHALLENGED ATHLETE DIVISION: We will also be having a Challenged Athletes division in the Age-Group Category. This division is for any CAF (Challenged Athletes Foundation) athlete or non-sponsored challenged athlete. All challenged athletes are eligible for a $10 race discount upon registration on Active.com. The Challenged Athletes Foundation supports wounded veterans of current conflicts by helping them get active and involved in endurance sports. TRIATHLON ELITE AMATEUR RACE DIVISION
Are you an Elite Amateur Triathlete, come compete for your portion of the $2,000 prize purse! The prize purse will be split evenly between the men and women ($500-1st, $350-2nd, $150-3rd), so come "Let the BATTLE Begin!". Elite athletes will not be eligible for open amateur age group awards. Awards will be presented at the Pro & Elite Athlete Awards Ceremony immediately following the race at 11AM. Actual payment of prize purses will take place approx. 1 week after race day to verify results with USA Triathlon officials. Winners will be sent a check at that time.

TRIATHLON PROFESSIONAL DIVISION
The Battle at Midway Triathlon is the only race in Utah to field a Professional category along with a $20,000 prize purse, one of the largest in the nation! This is a non-drafting race. Professional athletes will follow the same course as age-group & elite athletes. A MANDATORY Professional athlete briefing will be held 1-2PM Friday, June 13th at the Soldier Hollow Lodge.

The Battle at Midway Triathlon is pleased to announce a $20,000 purse prize, for the Professional field. Prize money will be awarded 5 deep and will be split equally between the men and women who finish. All awards will be given out at the Awards Ceremony after the race at 11AM. Actual payment of prize purses will take place approx. 1 week after race day to verify results with USA Triathlon officials. Winners will be sent a check at that time. The breakdown of prize purse money follows:

1st Place: $5,000
2nd Place: $2,500
3rd Place: $1,250
4th Place: $750
5th Place: $500

IMPORTANT TRIATHLON PACKET PICKUP INFORMATION:
1. You must bring Photo ID to packet pickup. No exceptions. You will not be allowed to race without it.
2. USA Triathlon membership is required at this event. A single day membership is $10.00 per person. Annual memberships are $39.00 per person and must be purchased in advance through the USAT website at www.usatriathlon.org.
3. If you are an annual USAT member, you must bring proof of current USAT membership to packet pickup at Soldier Hollow. If you have not received your membership card, you must log on to www.usatriathlon.org and print out a temporary card. Remember it takes 2-3 weeks for your membership to be processed if you send the application via fax or mail, so if you have an event coming up sooner than that, purchase your membership online so you can print a temporary card immediately.

TRIATHLON PARKING
There will be NO PARKING at Island Bay on race day!!! Athletes and spectators must take a shuttle from Soldier Hollow to Island Bay on Saturday morning. Parking will be allowed at Island Bay on Friday for bike drop off and check-in. On Saturday, there will be be general & VIP parking at Soldier Hollow. VIP Parking passes are available for purchase during race Active.com registration process or on Friday at packet pickup for $10 (space is limited!). The VIP Parking area is RIGHT next to Transition 2, about a 50 meter walk from your car to transition! Those who register for VIP Parking will receive a Parking Pass in their registration packet on Friday, this pass should be hung on your rear view mirror. It is good for SATURDAY (RACE DAY) ONLY, there will be NO VIP PARKING on Friday for packet pickup/expo or for the Duathlon on Sunday! BAM-X OFF-ROAD DUATHLON RACE INFO
DUATHLON RACE DIVISIONS
Open & Relay Divisions: Overall awards for the duathlon will be given 3 deep for overall male and female in the open divisions. Awards will go 3 deep in the 2-person relay category, the top 3 relay teams each receiving awards (each member of the top 3 teams will receive award).

Future BAM Doggie Dooathlon CompetitorDoggie "Doo"athlon Division: Yes, even the family dog can get involved in the BAM weekend. There will be a special Doggie "Doo"athlon category in the BAM-X Off-Road Duathlon, where athletes can compete with their dogs. The dogs will have a timing chip put on them before the start of the first run, and will compete in that portion of the race. After the first run, the dogs will be handed over to a human handler (each athlete is required to supply their own handler) in the transition area for keeping while athletes do the bike portion of the race. Upon returning from the bike portion, athletes will enter the transition area and re-rack their bikes. Their canine competitors will then be picked back up from the holding area in transition and head back out on their 2nd run portion with their owners. The chip will be transfered back over to the dog so that your overall time is based off of when you and Fido cross the finish line. All dogs MUST be on a leash at all times during the race, we also ask that owners be kind enough to clean up after their dogs while in the expo & finish line area. Overall awards for the Doggie "Doo"athlon will be given to top male finisher (& dog), top female finisher (& dog), top relay team (& dog(s)).

Every registered athlete will also recive a BAM-X finishers award...including the doggies! All overall, relay & Doggie "Doo"athlon awards will be given out at the awards ceremony immediately following the race @ 10:30AM. So come BATTLE it out for some of the best awards in the Nation!

DUATHLON PACKET PICKUP/REGISTRATION
Packet pickup for the duathlon will take place on Friday during the expo from 2-9PM and then again on Saturday from 12-3PM at the Soldier Hollow Stadium. There will be NO PACKET PICKUP on Sunday! Bib numbers & ID bracelets that you will receive in your registration packet must be worn AT ALL TIMES during the duathlon. The bike number sticker must be put on your bike for security purposes, only those athletes whose ID bracelet matches up to their bike's number sticker will be allowed to remove that bike from the transition area after the race. NO FRIENDS OR FAMILY will be allowed to remove any equipment from the transition area.

DUATHLON BIKE CHECK-IN - SOLDIER HOLLOW
Bike check in will take place on Sunday morning 5AM to 6:45AM, transition will close at 6:50AM. The duathlon transition area will be located just west of the expo & finish area in the biathlon shooting range. No spectators, friends or family members are allowed inside the transition area at anytime. This is for security purposes. Only those athletes who have their ID wrist bands (given to you in your registration packet) on will be allowed in transition. We also ask that you keep all dogs out of the transition area until they are placed in the holding zone after the 1st run portion.

DUATHLON RACE SCHEDULE
The duathlon will start promptly at 7AM with a mass run start. The start line is located right next to the transition & expo area. For a complete schedule of the weekends events, click here.

DUATHLON PARKING
Packet Pickup Parking (Friday & Saturday): Athletes will be able to park in the field that is just west of the triathlon transition area for packet pickup on Friday & Saturday. There will be signs & volunteers helping to direct you where to park.

Race Day Parking (Sunday): Athletes and spectators for the duathlon will be able to park right in the main Soldier Hollow parking lot (where Saturday's triathlon T-2 was located). There will once again be signs & volunteers helping to point you in the right direction. There will be no VIP parking on Sunday (for the duathlon)

RACE PHOTOGRAPHY - UNLIMITED FREE PICS
At 2008's Battle at Midway Triathlon, all race pictures will be free of charge for all participants! All images will be uploaded to a photo browsing site within 1 week after the event for downloading and viewing. There are no limits on how many or how often you download...really, we're serious. No astronomical fees to pay to get a picture of yourself. We will send out a race recap email a few days after this years event; in it will be the link directing you where to download your pictures. RACE TIMING - CHAMPION CHIP OF THE ROCKIES
The Battle at Midway will be chip timed with Champion Chip of the Rockies. If you have your own Champion Chip, it may be used to race with, it will just need to be scanned at packet pickup on Friday. Chips are also available for purchase online at CCR Timing, never stand in a long chip line again!

BIKE TRANSPORTATION/SHIPPING

From Salt Lake City: take I-80 East to Silver Creek Junction (exit 146). Go east on U.S. 40 past Jordanelle Reservoir toward Heber City. Take right turn on State Road 113 (100 South) to Midway. Take a left on 113 in Midway, and travel two miles. Turn right just before the railroad tracks and follow signs to Soldier Hollow. For TRIATHLON BIKE DROP OFF ONLY, NO SPECTATOR VEHICLES will be allowed at Island Bay RACE MORNING, all spectators & athletes must CATCH A SHUTTLE bus at the Soldier Hollow Legacy Park and be shuttled to the race start/swim venue. All spectators will then be shuttled back to transition 2 and the finish at Soldier Hollow.
